L'éditeur Patrick Townsend & Associates renforce la sécurité des environnements IBM System i et iSeries en partenariat avec Valid Technologies, le spécialiste des solutions biométriques.

L'éditeur portera également les contrôles biométriques VSSA sur de nombreuses plates-formes. Il propose également des prestations de service afin d'aider ses clients à mettre en oeuvre les contrôles biométriques sur leurs applications fonctionnant en environnements IBM ou autre.

Olympia, Washington (February 4, 2008) Patrick Townsend & Associates today selected VSSA from Valid Technologies as the biometric solution of choice to add strong user authentication to its Enterprise security solutions.  Effective immediately, companies that deploy the Alliance suite of IBM System i solutions from Patrick Townsend & Associates can augment password controls and other forms of strong user authentication with the convenient and secure VSSA fingerprint biometric solution.  Patrick Townsend & Associates will also support customers in the extension of VSSA biometric controls to legacy applications across multiple platforms.

Patrick Townsend, President of Patrick Townsend & Associates said The IBM System i server holds some of the largest concentrations of sensitive data in the world. Until now customers have not had a solution for strong user authentication in applications that access sensitive data.  Our new alliance with Valid Technologies gives us advanced capabilities to deploy the only fingerprint biometric user authentication tool designed for i5/OS.  It will help us better serve customer needs for IT resources that are reliable and secure.  Our entire suite of data security products on the i5/OS platform, including our NIST certified encryption solutions and our encryption key management server, have been enabled for VSSA biometric access control. Through our services group we are ready to help customers implement biometric controls in their own legacy applications on IBM and non-IBM platforms.

One common problem plaguing security professionals is controlling the use of shared user IDs and passwords. On the IBM System i platform it is not uncommon to find many different individuals sharing access to privileged user profiles. In reality, it is a problem across all Enterprise server platforms. As recent news events demonstrate, this can lead to tragic lapses in security. Security administrators can plug this security gap with strong biometric authentication and security audit reports using the Townsend solutions.
